AGA is governed by a National Board of Directors (NBD), which is made up of the following members:

• National President (Chair of the NBD);
• National President-Elect (Vice-Chair of the NBD);
• National Treasurer;
• nine Senior Vice Presidents;
• Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs);
• Chapter Presidents;
• five Immediate Past National Presidents;
• five Immediate Past National Treasurers;
• ex-officio members (without a vote): student Chapter Presidents; the remaining Past National Presidents; the remaining Past National Treasurers; the National Treasurer-Elect; the Regional Vice Presidents-Elect; the Immediate Past RVPs and the executive director.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) acts for the NBD in implementing Association policy. It consists of the following members:

• National President (Chair of the NEC);
• National President-Elect (Vice Chair of the NEC);
• National Treasurer;
• Immediate Past National President;
• nine Senior Vice Presidents;
• National Treasurer-Elect;
• Immediate Past National Treasurer;
• Ex-officio members (without a vote): executive director; chair of the Professional Certification Board and chair of the Corporate Partner Advisory Group.

In addition to these national governing bodies, AGA has 15 regions, represented by Regional Vice Presidents, and more than 100 chapters around the country, each of which is governed by a chapter executive board.
