CPE/Education - 17th Biennial Forum of Government Auditors
The theme for this year's Biennial is "Strengthening Democracy Through Accountability." Gene Dodaro, Chairman of the National Forum and GAO's Acting Comptroller General, will kick off the Biennial. Our speakers will cover topics that the American public is concerned about. David Walker, CEO and President of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, will address the state of the economy with a speech entitled, "Keeping America Great: Our Collective Challenge." Stuart W. Bowen, the Special IG for Iraq Reconstruction, and GAO's Joseph Christoff will speak about the war in Iraq. Harvard University Professor, Steve Kelman, and University of Pennsylvania Professor, Don Kettl, will address government's ability to respond to 21st century challenges. A panel, composed of Kansas City Mayor, Mark Funkhouser; Christopher Hoenig, CEO and President of the non-profit State of the USA, and Enrico Giovannini, OECD Chief Statistician, will update us on the development of key indicators that will allow the U.S. and other countries to assess their standing in a changing world. Bruce Weinstein, Business Week columnist, will speak about an issue high on all our radar screens--ethics.
