Nominating Committee Announces Slate of National Officers

AGA's
National Nominating Committee has selected its slate of officers to
serve on the National Board of Directors for 2008-2011. As outlined in
the Association's
bylaws, AGA will
accept independent nominations from AGA members via petition until Feb.
1, 2008. At that time, if other candidates are nominated, the Bylaws and
Procedures Committee will conduct an election to determine the officers.
However, if no other nominations are received, the committee's slate
will take office effective July 1, 2008.
As
National
President-Elect,
the Nominating Committee selected
William A. Morehead, Ph.D., CGFM, CPA,
CPM, a
member of AGA's Jackson Chapter. Morehead is the chair of AGA's
International Development Committee and has served as the Senior Vice
President for Regional Services, Section II (2001-2004) and National
Treasurer (1995-1996), along with several other leadership positions at
all levels of AGA. He is the interim dean at the College of Business at
Delta State University in Cleveland, MS, and is an assistant professor
of accounting there.
Mary E. Lechner, CGFM,
CPA, a
member of AGA's Virginia Peninsula Chapter, was selected as
National Treasurer-Elect.
Lechner is the Mid-Atlantic Region Vice President and has served as
chapter president and as a member of the 2007 technical committee for
the Professional Development Conference & Exposition. She is chief of
the Internal Control Branch at the U.S. Coast Guard Finance Center in
Chesapeake, VA.
Other
candidates are: Senior Vice President for Regional Services, Section
III—Robert P.
Bond, CGFM,
Northern Utah Chapter; Senior Vice President
At-Large—Karl L.
Boettcher, MBA, CGFM,
Washington, D.C. Chapter; Regional Vice Presidents-Elect—Jason
K. Denmeade,
Cleveland Chapter, Ohio-Michigan Region;
Gary W. Sessions, CGFM,
Northern Utah Chapter, Rocky Mountain Region;
Cecelia Smith,
Virginia Peninsula Chapter, Mid-Atlantic
Region. The remaining 12
RVP-Elect positions are pending.
National President, National
Treasurer and Regional Vice Presidents come on board as “elects”
effective July 1, 2008, while Senior Vice Presidents come on board in
full capacity.
