Testing Appointments

CGFM Examinations are administered at Pearson VUE Test Centers. The examination fee is $109 per exam.

CGFM Candidates can register with Pearson VUE online or over the phone:

OPTION A - online registration: Click on “Examination purchase” link above, which takes you to AGA’s page on Pearson VUE website.  Click on “Schedule Online” button in the middle of the page or “Schedule a test” or “My account” button on the list of navigational buttons on the right.

·         Step 1 – set up your account: click on “Create a new web account”, select “Financial Services” for the Type of Test and “Association of Government Accountants” for Test Program and click “Next”. Enter the required information on the Profile screen (for the last question, please enter your Candidate ID found on your eligibility letter) and click “Next”. Enter the required information on the Contact screen and click “Next”. Set up a new Username. Your password will be emailed to you.

·         Step 2 – pay for and schedule exam(s): sign in using the Username and Password you’ve set up during your previous registration with Pearson VUE (or use the appropriate links if you forgot your username or password). After you sign in, you can schedule/change your test appointments, view your testing history and view/modify your personal information.

OPTION B - phone registration: You can also register with Pearson VUE and schedule your testing appointment by calling 1.888.846.6948 (Monday – Friday, 7am – 7pm CT, except for holidays).

If you wish to cancel or reschedule your testing appointment, you must contact Pearson VUE at 1.888.846.6948 or by logging into your account and changing your appointment at least one business day prior to your originally scheduled exam appointment. Failure to cancel or reschedule within the appropriate time frame will be considered a “no show,” and you will be charged the full exam fee.

Examination Procedures

Arrival time: We ask that you arrive at the test center 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This will give you adequate time to complete the necessary sign-in procedures. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for an exam and are refused admission, payments are due for the exam and delivery fees.

Identification: To be admitted to the testing center, you must show two (2) valid forms of personal ID. Both must have your signature, and one of the two must have your photo. The name on the IDs must match the name above. Failure to present the valid IDs, and a marriage license if the name above is your maiden name, will invalidate your appointment and you will forfeit your entire exam fee.

Other entry requirements: In addition to showing your identification, you will be asked to sign in and your picture and a digital scan of your fingerprint and/or palm may be taken.

Personal belongings: You will not be allowed to take any personal items, including food or drink, with you into the testing room. A locker will be available for your belongings. A note board and a  calculator will be provided.

Audio/video monitoring: Pearson Professional Centers have audio and video monitoring of the examinations.

Accommodations for Americans with Disabilities Act Candidates

Any candidate with a documented disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, who needs an accommodation to the usual testing conditions may request special testing accommodations (such as additional testing time or a reader) to take the CGFM Examinations at the regular testing locations.

The candidate must submit:

-          the Special Testing Accommodations Request Form, and

-          documentation from a qualified diagnosing professional with the specific diagnosis of the disability and a recommendation for a testing accommodation. Absent special circumstances, this documentation must be dated within the last 5 years. Any professional providing documentation must be registered/licensed and/or have credentials appropriate to diagnose the candidate’s disability.

The Special Testing Accommodations Request Form and the accompanying documentation should be submitted at the time of application for the CGFM Program. The accommodation requested may not compromise the security or integrity of the CGFM Examinations.

Score Reporting

Upon completing each CGFM Examination, test takers receive an immediate pass/fail result that is printed and provided to the test taker at a testing center. Individuals who passed an exam will receive a report that states "you have passed"; individuals who did not pass will receive a scaled score and performance by content area. A scaled score reports examinations scores on a scale that is linked to the raw scores. CGFM examinations are using a scale of 200-700, with 500 as the passing score.

Retaking Examinations

In the event that you fail a CGFM Examination, you must wait 30 days before you can retake this examination. Additional retakes require a 90-day wait. In the interim, you may take the other exams. You can go to the Pearson VUE website and register before the 30 or 90-day period is over, but your appointment date will only be available after you’ve satisfied the appropriate waiting period.

Examinee Misconduct

AGA reserves the right to take any and all remedial and disciplinary action that AGA, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate in the event of misconduct or suspected misconduct by an examinee. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, completing the CGFM application in a false or misleading manner, seeking an unfair advantage in connection with any CGFM Examination, providing assistance to another candidate during an examination, using unauthorized materials during an examination, and, upon becoming aware of misconduct by others, failing to report it to AGA. Other examples of misconduct are the copying or removal of CGFM Examination materials, as well as the disclosure, in writing or orally, of the contents of any individual examination questions.

Possible responses of AGA to misconduct or suspected misconduct include, but are not limited to, cancellation of exam scores, revocation of certified status, disqualification from future examinations, and reporting of misconduct to third parties, including employers and other certifying bodies. If misconduct is discovered after certified status has been achieved, it may be treated as a violation of the AGA’s Code of Ethics.
