Working Your Way Through the Jungle of Systems Jargon

In the past, budget analysts, financial analysts, cost accountants and auditors, all dealt with numbers, spreadsheets and issues important to the chief financial officer community. Now, terminology such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software are as common in the financial community as they are in the information technology (IT) community. This session focuses on common IT terms and acronyms and, for example, gives a layman's explanation of the differences between mainframes and client-server environments, and what middleware is relative to hardware and software.
