AGA and
CPAG—Partners in Advancing Government Accountability
Thank you for your outstanding support of
AGA and its mission of advancing government accountability. Over the
past year, AGA has made tremendous strides as the thought leader for
advancing government accountability due in large part to its Corporate
Partners. We look forward to continuing our partnership into the
future!

Congressman Urges Better Training for
Acquisition Workers at CPAG Breakfast
More than 100 Corporate Partners and
government executives gathered at the Marriott Metro Center on March 1
to network and listen to a discussion with U.S. Rep. Tom Davis,
R-VA. Davis is the ranking member of the Committee on
Oversight and Government Reform, which has government-wide jurisdiction
over the management of the federal government.
Davis shared his insight into the challenges
facing our government today, the priorities the committee is setting,
and how the federal government and its partners in the contracting
community can work together to achieve success.

Technical Conference
Committees—Looking for A Few Good Women and Men!
2007 Fraud
Conference
We are currently accepting requests from our CPAG members to
serve on the 2007 Internal Control & Fraud Conference Technical
Committee.
The Technical Committee is charged with the
responsibility of planning the educational content and working closely
with the AGA National Office staff to put together an outstanding
conference program. The committee determines topics and extends
invitations to speakers on behalf of AGA. Your role is the backbone of
AGA conferences and is what keeps the quality of the conferences at
their highest. Although it involves a great deal of work and
commitment, planning each conference is a rewarding experience for all
those involved.
There is limited space on this committee so we
are unable to accept all requests to serve. Preference will be
given to platinum and gold sponsors of this event. Please e-mail
Ada Phillips by
Friday, March 30, 2007 with the name, job title,
mailing address, phone, fax and e-mail of the representative you wish
to nominate. Please write “Fraud Committee Request” in the
subject of your message.
2007 Performance Management
Conference
Is your organization involved in helping state and local
governments carry out their missions through performance management
techniques? Industry insights and experience are needed on the
technical committee for AGA’s Third Annual
National Performance Management Conference, set for Sept. 24 –
25, 2007, at the Embassy Suites Phoenix/Scottsdale Golf Resort.
Technical committee members help design the
conference agenda, select speakers, topics and best practices to share
with 200 expected attendees. AGA leaders will also recognize those
state and local government entities honored with AGA’s
Certificate of Achievement in SEA Reporting at the conference, worth 13
CPE hours. If you are interested in serving on the technical committee,
please contact Evie Barry or Julie Cupp at 703.684.6931 by
March 30, 2007.
Corporate Partner Access
Dinners—Spots Available!
April 10, 2007: Sam Mok, CGFM, CFO,
Department of Labor; AGA National President-Elect Designate
May 8, 2007: Danny Werfel, Deputy Controller,

As a reminder, each event lasts for three
hours, from 6:15 – 9:15 p.m. One important thing to
remember – there is NO selling at these events. The
dinners are held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Arlington, Virginia
(Pentagon City Mall). The cost is $160 per participant, which covers
cocktails, dinner and valet parking.
If you are interested in participating in a
dinner, please complete the Dinner Reservation Form
and submit it to Susan
Fritzlen. Each dinner is limited to 16 Corporate
Partners—only one per Corporate Partner
organization. Selections for each dinner are determined on a
first-come first served basis AND based on previous
attendance at dinners. Once the attendees are selected from the
returned Reservation Forms, we will notify
those who are confirmed for a seat and those who are placed on the
waiting list.
Research Program Update
AGA’s CPAG Research Program creates research projects of
value to governments, industry and the AGA membership. Two major types
of research are conducted under the program: sponsored and cooperative,
with cooperative tending to have a shorter (90-day) timeframe, and
sponsored being of a longer, continuing nature.
Here’s an update.
Black Tie Event Celebrates
Excellence
This year's Certificate of Excellence in
Accountability Reporting (CEAR) Program Awards Banquet is
being held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the National Press Club in
Washington, D.C. Each Corporate Partner organization will be
extended two invitations to participate in this exciting event.
Invitations will be sent in early April to the main contact for each
Corporate Partner organization.
AGA presents the CEAR to federal government
agencies whose Performance and Accountability Reports (PARs) achieve
the highest standards by communicating results and demonstrating
accountability. The award hallmarks high-quality PARs that effectively
illustrate and assess program performance—both accomplishments
and shortfalls—and the cost of that performance.
The CEAR Program helps raise the quality and
usefulness of performance information through promulgation of report
guidelines, training workshops for report preparers and program
reviewers, an in-depth peer review of each PAR, opportunities to serve
as reviewers, and an annual comprehensive compilation of commendable
practices, examples of creativity and practices in need of
improvement.
Questions about your invitation? Please contact
Susan Fritzlen at sfritzlen@agacgfm.org.
