AGA’s 2008 Annual PDC: What a Success!
The 2008 Professional Development Conference (PDC) in Atlanta, Georgia was a huge success with more than 2,000 people in attendance! From the technical sessions to the exhibits to the networking, it was spectacular. Attendees were very pleased with the caliber of speakers and the overall quality of the conference. We could not have achieved this without your support! Thank you!

Seven of our Corporate Partner research studies were highlighted in conference sessions and two research reports were included in attendee bags—SAS 70 Reports: Are They Useful and Can They Be Improved? (sponsored by Ernst & Young) and the Annual CFO Survey (sponsored by Grant Thornton LLP).

Mark your calendars now for the 2009 PDC to be held June 21–24 in New Orleans, Louisiana!

Corporate Partner Advisory Group (CPAG) Business Meeting Held at the PDC
We were pleased that so many of you were able to join us for the CPAG business meeting held Monday, July 28, in conjunction with the PDC. We listened as CPAG Vice Chair, John Cherbini, CGFM, reviewed the mission of the CPAG, the overall financial contribution of the private sector to AGA and provided the Year-in-Review recap of CPAG activities, including a research projects update.

As we move forward, we will be providing expanded opportunities for you, including a new breakfast series surrounding the results of the presidential and congressional elections and other development programs surrounding the transition to a new leadership.

We need for you to stay (or GET) involved to reap the full benefits of your Corporate Partnership! Do this by participating in events, volunteering for conference committees, working with the local AGA chapters, participating in research and staying current with AGA’s electronic newsletters and Corporate Partner updates!

Be Our Guest on the AGA Blog
Does your organization have an innovative new idea or strategy you'd like to share with the government accountability community? Have you noticed a trend in your engagements that might be of interest to others? Why not take a day on the AGA Blog to discuss it? What does a day on the blog entail?

1. A 500-750-word essay on a topic of your choice submitted by noon the day before your appearance or earlier if possible

2. The essay should end with a question to encourage readers to post replies

3. You should be somewhat available during your "day" on the blog to reply a few times to comments as they are made

4. We ask that you publicize your appearance to your professional colleagues and friends to help us draw traffic to the site, which is located at http://aga.typepad.com/aga/ if you wish to check it out. We suggest you wait until the morning your blog is live to publicize it since people tend to react more favorably to a live blog.

Interested? We are now booking into September. Contact Marie Force, communications director, to schedule your day on the AGA Blog!

Research Projects Update
If you would like to sponsor a research project and/or have a good idea for a project, we would like to hear from you. Please contact Anna Miller, AGA’s Director of Research. Here’s an update.
