Integrating Cost and Performance in Financial Reporting
June 18, 2008
2 CPE Hours Available!

AGA, in conjunction with the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) and the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA), is pleased to announce an increasingly important topic to our audio conference schedule – using process based reports to improve managerial decision making.

Process based reports are forward looking reports that are useful in managerial decision-making. They marry cost and performance and can be used for predictive and control purposes. A common complaint directed at the current financial statement framework in the government is that it does not provide information that is useful in decision-making. Process-based statements do. Learn more about the future of cost and performance reporting during this audio conference.

Also, hear an overview of AGA’s research project on Performance Based Reporting and how process oriented accounting is the basis. Learn about the results of Phase I of the research and a description of Phase II, currently underway. The discussion includes aspects of multi-dimensional accounting and the ability to use accounting information in forward looking/predictive manner. The use of XML and XBRL is also included in the discussion.

To share their expertise and experiences in process based accounting and improving financial reporting are Clifton A. Williams, CGFM, CPA, Partner, Grant Thornton LLP, and James Brimson, MS, founder of Activity Based Management Institute.

Please join us for two hours of lively discussion that includes 20 minutes for Q & A.
