Identity Theft – What is Being Done to Prevent It?
AN AGA TRAINING AUDIO CONFERENCE
December 7, 2005
2 CPE Hours Available!

AGA, in conjunction with the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT), and the National Association of Local Government Auditors (N.A.L.G.A.), is pleased to announce a new audio conference addressing identity theft.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the country.  It can affect anyone, at any age, and any ethnic or economic group.  This crime has many facets and can be perpetrated in a variety of ways.  There is one common denominator in all cases of identity theft, however; access to personal identifying information.  Once a person has become a victim of identity theft, it can be very traumatic and can last for years.  This audio conference will discuss how you can protect yourself from becoming a victim of identity theft and what you can do if you do become a victim.

To discuss how the government is pursuing identity theft is Kathy Buller, Chief Counsel to the Inspector General, U.S. Social Security Administration; Naomi Lefkovitz, Attorney, Federal Trade Commission; and Alice Robinson-Bond, Deputy Attorney General, State of Ohio.

Please join us for two hours of lively discussion about this important and timely topic. In addition to the speakers' presentations, there will be 20 minutes for Q&A so that the participants can ask the speakers questions and share their own experiences.

Date: Wednesday, December 7, 2005
Time: 2:00 - 3:50 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

Approximately one week prior to the audio conference, the site coordinator will be emailed or faxed call-in instructions for the day of the audio conference.  In the conference, a website link will be provided where CPE certificates, speaker biographies, presentations, and a sign in sheet can be downloaded. Program evaluations can be completed online following the audio conference.

AGA suggests you provide a print out of the biographies and presentations to the participants so they can follow along with the audio conference at their own pace.

Please note the only technical requirement for participation in the call is a telephone with speaker capability. However, the power point presentations can be projected to a screen if you have that capability.

Also, completed CPE certificates must be mailed to the AGA. Do not mail them to NASBA.

 Thank you!
