The Value Proposition of Internal Auditing in Government
An AGA/NASACT TRAINING AUDIO CONFERENCE
July 21, 2004
2 CPE Hours Available!

NASACT, in conjunction with the Association of Government Accountants, the National Association of Local Government Auditors, and the Institute for Internal Auditors, is pleased to announce the latest in its series of audio conferences addressing timely issues in government financial management.

This audio conference discusses the roles and responsibilities of internal auditors and the value that the internal audit function provides to organizations.  Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity that adds value to and improves organizational operations.  It helps organizations accomplish objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and corporate processes.

Internal auditors assist organizations in the effective discharge of responsibilities, promoting the establishment of cost-effective controls, assessing risks, and recommending measures to mitigate those risks.  Internal auditors are an integral part of management teams and assist management with analyses, appraisals, counsel, and the development of programmatic information.  They also monitor the organization's ethics, a critical role in light of recent corporate scandals.

When internal auditing is accepted and acknowledged by government leaders as a management activity, internal auditors can fulfill their most fundamental role which is helping management and senior leadership achieve their broad objectives.

Please join us for this informative training session as we hear from a panel of experts on how internal auditing is providing accountability and enhancing government performance.  Panelists include representatives from the Institute of Internal Auditors as well as representatives from all three levels of government.  In addition to presentations from our speakers, there will be approximately 25 minutes for Q&A so that participants may ask questions and share their own experiences.
