The New Yellow Book - What You Need to Know
November 8, 2006

AGA, in conjunction with the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT), and the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA), is pleased to announce a new and significant audio conference addressing the upcoming revisions to the Government Auditing Standards, commonly known as the “Yellow Book”.

Given the events of the past few years in the auditing profession, along with current fiscal and performance pressures in government, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) concluded that a substantial revision of the standards was necessary. The new standards, released as an exposure draft in June 2006,  will likely contain substantial revisions designed to lead the profession in the areas of audit quality and ethics, and to reflect a number of modernizations and leading practices for financial and performance audits.

To discuss the major changes and interpretation of the Government Auditing Standards is Jeffrey Steinhoff, CGFM, Managing Director, Financial Management and Assurance; Jeanette M. Franzel, CGFM, Director, Financial Management and Assurance; and Marcia B. Buchanan, CGFM, Assistant Director, Financial Management and Assurance; considered the “gurus” of  the Yellow Book at GAO. Also, Stephen L. Morgan, CGFM, CIA, CFE, City Auditor, City of Austin, Texas and a member of the GAO Advisory Council on Government Auditing, will be adding his perspectives about the impact of the revisions on local government auditors.

Please join us for two hours of lively discussion about this important and timely topic. In addition to the speakers’ presentations, there will be approximately 20 minutes for Q & A so that the participants can ask the speakers questions and share their own experiences.
