AGA Room Rate: $115 (Plus Tax)

AGA has reserved a block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Soaring 23 stories high into the Atlanta skyline, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta is strategically located in the heart of downtown, close to Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta Botanical Garden, World of Coca-Cola and the new Georgia Aquarium. Sightseers are at an advantage of the hotel’s close proximity to a host of Atlanta restaurants, shops and more. Recently refurbished, guest rooms and suites of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Atlanta are elegantly decorated and feature contemporary amenities.

The room rate is $115 (plus tax) per night for single or double occupancy. The rate of $115 is only guaranteed until September 1, 2006, or until the room block sells out. Reservations received after September 1, or after the room block has been filled, will be made on a space-available basis, and may be subject to higher rates. To make reservations call the Hyatt Regency Atlanta at 404.577.1234 or 800.233.1234. Be sure to mention that you are attending the "AGA Fraud Conference."

The Hyatt requires a credit card for confirming reservations. A check or money order in the amount of one night’s stay ($115 single/double) may also be used to guarantee a room.

Please Note: reservations not cancelled at least two weeks prior to the check-in date will be charged a fee of $115, or one night's stay.

Hotel Reservation Deadline: September 1, 2006—Hotel rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis until the hotel is sold out.  Make your reservations early!

 

Airport Travel

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is located off I-85, approximately nine miles south of downtown Atlanta. Most U.S. cities are within at two-hour flight of Atlanta, making the busiest airport in the world both in terms of number of passengers as well as the number of takeoffs and landings. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport handles almost seven million passengers every month and is a major hub for Delta Airlines and AirTran Airlines. So, no matter where you’re coming from, your trip to Atlanta will be quick and easy.

 

You have the choice of using your own travel agent or an Internet service to purchase airline tickets. There are many websites available that allow you to search for and purchase tickets online... Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity are just a few.

Ground Transportation

AGA’s National Internal Control & Fraud Conference will be held on September 25-26, 2006, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, located at 265 Peachtree Street, N.E. Attendees can rely on the area's taxi and shuttle services for getting to the conference. Please refer to the information below when planning your trip.

Airport Shuttle

The Atlanta Link Airport Shuttle operates 7 days a week between Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Hyatt Regency Atlanta. The Atlanta Link transportation desk is located at the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), which houses all ground transportation (buses, taxis, shuttles limousines, etc.) for the airport.

From baggage claim follow the signs to ground transportation. The Atlanta Link Airport Shuttle is located in section C, stalls 10 to 14. The shuttle leaves the airport every 15 to 20 minutes, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The shuttle departs from the front entrance of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour. Travel time is normally 30 minutes. The cost per person is $16.50 one way and $29 roundtrip.

MARTA

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is a very convenient method of travel around Atlanta. MARTA encompasses the rapid rail system and over 150 bus routes the guarantee an efficient trip anywhere in metro Atlanta. The trains begin running at approximately 5:00 a.m. and continue until 1:00 a.m. MARTA is also an easy and inexpensive way to get to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The fare is $1.75 and it’s only a 20-minute trip to Hyatt Regency Atlanta. In addition, MARTA offers and "all weekend pass" for $9.00.

The closest MARTA station to the hotel is located in Peachtree Center. For your convenience a covered walkway joins Peachtree Center and Hyatt Regency Atlanta. All MARTA stations are fully accessible to the physically disabled and elderly passengers; any needed attendants are able to ride at no charge.

Taxi Service

If you prefer not to take a shuttle, there are plenty of taxicabs available at the airport and at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta at all times. The fare is approximately $25 for one person. A special rate applies for trips with two or more passengers.

Please Note: There are THREE Hyatt locations in the Atlanta Metro Area, please be very clear in making your reservation with Atlanta Link or communicating with a taxi operator that the conference is located at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, 265 Peachtree Street NE.

 

Car Rental

Most major rental car companies also provide service to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Contact your preferred car rental company to make arrangements and confirm rates.

Parking

Parking is available at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta for. Unlimited in/out privileges are available for hotel guests only. If you are not a guest at the hotel, you will be charged for each time you enter and exit the garage. The parking charges are as follows:

0-1 hours $7.00
1-3 hours $10.00
3-6 hours $15.00
6-8 hours $18.00
8-24 hours $22.00

Should the Hyatt’s underground lot become full, additional parking can be found in the Suntrust building, located just a block from the hotel for a rate of $15.00 a day.

Weather and Dress

Atlanta's average temperature in September is 75. Temperatures may vary from day to day so please pack accordingly.

Business casual attire is appropriate for all conference activities. Slacks, button-down collared shirts, sweaters, blazers, blouses and most importantly, comfortable shoes, are all appropriate. Suits and ties are not required.

As a reminder, meeting rooms have a tendency to be cool. For your comfort, we recommend that you bring a light sweater or jacket.
