Air Travel
The nation's capital is served by three airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).
DCA is the closest airport to the Four Points by Sheraton and the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Located just five miles south of the city along the Potomac River, the airport offers a full range of domestic flights on major, regional and commuter carriers. It is also accessible on Metro's Yellow and Blue lines.
IAD (26 miles west of Washington) and BWI (35 miles north of Washington) offer a full range of domestic and international flights. Excellent highway access and elaborate ground transportation systems speed passengers on their way.
You have the choice of using your favorite airline, travel agent or Internet travel service when booking your flight. Many websites are available that allow you to search for and purchase airline tickets online—Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity are just a few. For the best rates and discounts you should make reservations at least 30 days prior to departure.
Ground Transportation
The conference will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, in Washington, D.C.
Attendees can rely on the area's taxi and shuttle services and Metrorail for getting to the conference. Please refer to the information below when planning your travel to Washington.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
By Metro: Upon arriving at the airport, follow signs to the Reagan National Airport Metro Station, which is adjacent to Terminals B and C. A shuttle bus runs between the Metro station and Terminal A, where Alaska Airlines, ATA, Midway Air Lines and Northwest Airlines continue to operate. From the Metro, you can board either the Blue or Yellow line to get to the hotel.
Blue Line—Take the Blue Line in the direction of Addison Road. This train will take you to the Four Points by Sheraton (McPherson Square Station) or to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (Federal Triangle Station).
Yellow Line—Take the Yellow Line in the direction of Mount Vernon Square-Convention Center. Stop at the L’Enfant Plaza Station and transfer to the Blue Line (Franconia/Springfield) or Orange Line (Vienna). This train will take you to the Four Points by Sheraton (McPherson Square Station) or to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (Federal Triangle Station).
By Taxi: Taxicabs are available at the exits of each terminal. A ride from the airport to the hotel takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes, depending on time of day and traffic, and costs approximately $16.
By Bus: Super Shuttle offers service from DCA to downtown Washington for a cost of $12 one-way. However, this is a shared-ride van service, so the shuttle may make several stops before reaching your final destination. When flying into Reagan National we suggest traveling by cab or by Metro.
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
By Metro:
The Washington Flyer Coach provides a convenient link between
Washington Dulles International Airport and the West Falls
Church Metro station. To travel using this service, purchase a
ticket ($10 one way; $18 round trip) from the Ground
Transportation Center's ticket podium located inside the
vestibule at Arrivals Level Door 4. For your return home, please
note that there are no ticketing facilities located at the West
Falls Church Metro Station—passengers boarding there without a
ticket must purchase their tickets upon arrival at the Airport.
When you arrive at the West Falls Church Metro station, purchase
a
Metrorail fare
card and take the Orange line in the direction of New
Carrollton. This train will take you to the Four Points by
Sheraton (McPherson Square Station) or to the Ronald Reagan
Building and International Trade Center (Federal Triangle
Station).
By Taxi: Taxicabs are available at the exits of each terminal. Taxi service from the airport to downtown D.C. is approximately $45.
By Bus: Super Shuttle provides inexpensive ($27 one-way) door-to-door service from the airport to downtown Washington. This is a shared-ride van service, so the shuttle may make several stops before reaching your final destination. Go to the Ground Transportation desk in the baggage claim area to purchase a ticket. You may call 800.258.3826 or go to www.supershuttle.com for reservations or more information.
Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
By Train: Amtrak and MARC trains provide service to the BWI Rail Station, where free shuttles serve the airport terminal. From the BWI Rail Station, take the train to Washington’s Union Station. At Union Station, take Metro’s Red Line towards Shady Grove. This train will take you to Metro Center where you can transfer to the Orange or Blue line and go one stop to the Four Points by Sheraton (McPherson Square Station) or Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (Federal Triangle Station).
By Taxi: Taxicabs are available just outside of the baggage claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI Airport Terminal. Taxi service from the airport to downtown D.C. is approximately $60.
By Bus: Super Shuttle provides inexpensive ($36 one-way) door-to-door service from the airport to downtown Washington. This is a shared-ride van service, so the shuttle may make several stops before reaching your final destination. Go to the Ground Transportation desk in the baggage claim area to purchase a ticket. You may call 800.258.3826 or go to www.supershuttle.com for reservations or more information.
