AGA TODAY

Highlights

Growth and Retention Reports (GARs) are a monthly summary of membership numbers by chapter. In the Chapter Recognition Program, up to 3,000 credits are available in the membership section in the areas of base growth, new member acquisition and retention.

The GAR lists chapters by size (Group A = 300 or more members; Group B = 150-299 members, etc.). We also publish a GAR by region. It may be useful to see how individual regions compare. Don’t remember what the columns and numbers mean? Read a detailed explanation of the GAR Reports.

NEW! AGA Survey Tool Now Available to All AGA Chapters
In response to a request from our chapters, the National Office has set up a new account with an online survey company called SurveyMonkey.

This tool makes it quick and easy to survey your chapter or regional members. While we encourage you to use this service, we ask that you limit your use to AGA business. Further, we request that you protect the privacy of other chapters/regions by limiting your use ONLY to those surveys that affect your chapter or region.

This new opportunity for AGA Chapters will allow you to learn more about your members' professional goals and needs. It is also a great way to gain feedback from the individuals who attend your chapter conferences, meetings and events.

Please contact Jennifer Curtin when you are ready to set up a survey at 800.AGA.7211, ext. 340.

2007 PDC Hotel Scholarships
AGA is excited to offer each chapter two hotel scholarships for the 2007 Professional Development Conference & Exposition (PDC). As in the past, the hotel scholarship will cover five nights stay during the PDC in Nashville, TN. Hotel scholarship participants will be housed in one of the overflow hotels, not the Renaissance. Any reservations made at the Renaissance will not be covered by the scholarship program.

Official details on the program and RSVP forms will be mailed to chapter presidents in mid-February. The RSVP deadline for this program will be April 6; no changes will be made to reservations after June 1 and no onsite substitutions will be accepted. Please keep this information in mind so you start to plan who from the chapter will attend the conference. Questions? Contact Jessica Jones.

AGA's Citizen-Centric Government Initiative: Read About It in the Winter Journal
The Winter issue of the Journal of Government Financial Management, which arrived at members' homes the first week in December, focuses on Citizen-Centric Government. AGA is encouraging governments to describe their fiscal state of affairs in an easy-to-read, four-page report. AGA’s Citizen-Centric Government Task Force developed a draft prototype that was used to produce a mock report for the City of Virginia Beach, VA. The report is included in the magazine and was inserted into the Journal mailer. Please let us know what you think about the report. Contact Susan Fritzlen at 800.AGA.7211 with your comments. Over the next six months, AGA will be working with four other governments to produce similar reports. Why not be on the cutting edge and add your government to the list?
