National Board of Directors (NBD) Meeting AGA national officers will report to the NBD on 2005–2006 program year results and discuss plans for the 2006–2007 program year. All members are welcome to attend. Note: The National Board of Directors consists of the National Executive Committee, Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs), RVPs-Elect (ex-officio), Immediate Past RVPs (ex-officio), Chapter Presidents (Student Chapter Presidents are ex-officio), Past National Presidents (immediate past five with vote, remaining are ex-officio), Past National Treasurers immediate past five with vote, remaining are ex-officio).

Chapter Organizational Meeting Do you live in the San Diego area? Would you like to help form an AGA chapter? AGA has set up this meeting to bring government accountability professionals together to talk about setting up a chapter to serve the needs of members who live in San Diego. Those of you who have had the experience of creating a new chapter know that it is a rewarding endeavor, but that it requires a dedicated group of members who are willing to put their volunteer time and energy together to make it happen. Corporate Partner
Advisory Group Annual Business Meeting Current AGA Corporate Partner representatives, as well as those organizations who may be interested in joining the program, are invited to participate in the annual business meeting of the Corporate Partner Advisory Group (CPAG). CPAG’s mission is to bring industry and government executives together to exchange information, support professional development, improve communications and understanding, solve issues and build partnerships and trust, thereby enhancing AGA’s focus on advancing government accountability. AGA’s Corporate Partner Advisory Group aims to improve access between the private sector and government. After all, we need each other. We share common goals, and we can learn from each other’s mistakes and successes. At the meeting, AGA Executive Director Relmond Van Daniker, DBA, CPA, will provide updates on AGA programs, including various research projects currently under way. This is an excellent opportunity to network with other Corporate Partner representatives and learn how to maximize your organization’s partnership with AGA.

Learn how to produce successful educational events from experienced chapter leaders.

We will demonstrate how to set up an HTML newsletter, discuss current chapter communicator needs and review the resources available from the National Office to help chapter communicators better serve their local members. Management Standards Board Meeting Members of AGA’s Financial Management Standards Board seldom get a chance to meet face-to-face and talk about issues important to the profession. This meeting is your chance to get to know other members and learn more about the board’s role in influencing accounting and auditing standards in the public sector, both in the United States and internationally. Development & Assistance Meeting Senior Vice Presidents of Regional Services, Regional Vice Presidents and the Regional Coordinators for Chapter Development and Assistance can take advantage of the opportunity to meet face-to-face to discuss their efforts to develop new chapters and to assist struggling chapters. Director of Chapter Assistance Raymond Harris, CGFM, and Deputy Executive Director of Programs Susan Fritzlen will lead a discussion on expanding and improving chapter operations. The discussion will also focus on the regional governance structure, the role that SVPRS and RVP teams play in making such improvements and the procedures for starting a new chapter.

Whether you are an incoming officer or a experienced one, there is much to gain from attending this session. This session will focus on national recruitment and retention initiatives as well as share chapter best practices. We’ll also review the ’basics’ and how to access valuable tools and information on the Members Only website.

We will discuss state and local recognition of the CGFM certification, opportunities to earn the designation at AGA national conferences and the CGFM training program.

Roundtable By Invitation Only Join AGA’s International Development Committee (IDC) for a discussion of international issues, current and emerging. The IDC chair will present changes that have been made recently, and IDC members will be able to share their views, discuss AGA’s long-term goals and offer attendees the opportunity to raise questions or suggest approaches for AGA in the international arena. International attendees, U.S. nationals living abroad and anyone interested in international issues are invited to attend, but reservations are required. A Discussion of
GASB’s Preliminary Assessment Results of Experiences in Using the
Suggested Criteria for Performance Reporting Jay Fountain, CGFM, and Wilson Campbell, CGFM, are currently assessing the effectiveness of GASB’s 16 suggested criteria for performance reporting. They are interested in your experiences in using the suggested criteria. This feedback session provides you with an opportunity to share your thoughts about the suggested criteria in preparing a performance report, reviewing a performance report, or in using a performance report prepared with the suggested criteria. Jay and Wilson will also discuss the preliminary results of their research to date. |
