2-3:50 p.m. EDT

Workshop Leader: Hal Steinberg, CGFM, Technical Consultant

Learn how to be an SEA reviewer by participating in this audio conference on designed to give an overview of the review process.  Hal Steinberg, AGA technical consultant, will walk through the 16 suggested GASB criteria that are used to review an SEA report.  Mr. Steinberg shares with you his insights and tips in making a report easier to review.  If your entity is thinking about doing a performance report, be a reviewer!  It's the best time to pick up some of the best practices from other governments.

Thanks to the Sloan Foundation, AGA was awarded a grant to undertake a program for reviewing state and local governments' performance reports, provide the governments with recommendations for improving the reports, and identify the best reports for special recognition.  Guidelines for preparing a performance report have been by created by AGA and are based on the Governmental Accounting Standards Board's (GASB) suggested criteria for performance reports,

  • GASB's suggested criteria for performance reports, their rationale and purpose
  • AGA's review guidelines and how they can be used to review a performance report and determine opportunities for improvements
  • The reviewers' role in the program
  • Planned steps for evaluating and improving the review process and guidelines
