The
Council for Excellence in Government Announces the Government
Financial Fellows and the Spring 2008 Excellence in Government
Fellows Programs
AGA and the Council for Excellence in Government have
combined their strengths to create a specialty focus for financial
management professionals within the Excellence in Government Fellows
program: The Government Financial Fellows Program. This special
program has been added for mid-level federal managers with
responsibility in financial management areas. Specific occupations
include budgeting, accounting, auditing and investigations,
financial systems, and program management. This hands-on,
results-based leadership development program is central to the
missions of the Council for Excellence in Government and AGA: to
improve the performance and accountability of government.
For the past 19 years, the Excellence in Government’s Fellows
Program has been empowering and training the next generation of
great leaders in government with a focus on achieving results.
Designed for government employees at the GS-14 and GS-15 grade or
equivalent (high performing GS-13s may apply), the Fellows Program
trains and teaches participants to:
• effectively lead people and manage change;
• achieve and measure results in complex environments;
• build partnerships and motivate teams; and
• learn insights into self.
The Council for Excellence in Government has designed the
Fellows program to be convenient for working professionals. During
the 12-month program, Fellows remain in their full time jobs,
spending approximately three days about every six weeks for seven
sessions with their “coaching teams” working on issues critical to
their own development and to achieving their agencies’ mission
goals. A central feature of the Excellence in Government Fellows
program is benchmarking where the classroom is real life, real-time
and real results. Through benchmarking activities Fellows get a
behind-the-scenes look at the most successful, high-performance
organization and companies, and a chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity
to meet and engage some of the most effective leaders in government
and business.
The Financial Fellows and Spring 2008
Excellence in Government Fellows programs are kicking off the week
of April 7 and we will be accepting applications for that program on
a rolling basis until March 25, 2008. For more information on the
