The Race for Recruiter of the Year Heats Up!
Doug Ziegenfuss, CGFM, Virginia Peninsula Chapter, recruited his 24th member and is in the lead for Recruiter of the Year! Not far behind is Ken Sifontes, New York Chapter, with 20 recruits! Eleven members recruited 10 or more members by March 31st and were entered into a fishbowl drawing for a FREE registration to AGA’s 2006 Professional Development Conference in San Diego, California. Congratulations to Ken Sifontes, President-Elect for the New York Chapter who won this prize!

Academy Board Chair Adds CGFM to the List
With seven certifications under his belt, Sridhar Ramamoorti hardly needed another one. Not only is he a Ph.D., but Ramamoorti recently added the CGFM to his already-long list of credentials: CIA, ACA, CPA, CFE, CFSA, CRP, CGAP. Why? Ramamoorti likes a challenge, for one thing, but more important, he wanted to serve as an example. “As Chairman of the Academy for Government Accountability, it is important to send a signal to my constituency that I’m fully committed to showing the CGFM is indeed the mark of professionalism in government financial management,” he said. Read the story.

Take the CGFM Examinations at the PDC
For the second year in a row, AGA is offering a great opportunity to take the CGFM Examinations and earn your CGFM at the annual Professional Development Conference & Exposition (PDC) in San Diego. Whether you've been thinking about earning your CGFM or have enrolled but found it difficult to find time to complete the three exams, this is your chance to get it done!

To help you reach that goal, we are offering a two-day Intensive Review Course on Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16 and an opportunity to take CGFM Examinations on June 17-19, 2006. The cost of the course is only $225 for qualified participants, and it offers 18 CPE hours. Special Bonus: the CGFM Examinations taken during this event are free of charge!

This course is designed as a supplement to previous preparation for the CGFM Examinations, so this event is perfect for those individuals who have already attended CGFM training courses or have been studying by using the CGFM study guides. Space is still available, but enrollment is limited and participants must first apply and be accepted into the CGFM Program, so don't delay.

More information and a registration form for this event are available on the AGA website. If you have any questions, contact Katya Silver at 800.AGA.7211, ext. 305.

The Fiscal Wake Up Tour Continues!
The next meeting is Monday, April 24 in Kansas City. AGA is involved with helping to take this message across the country because better public awareness of the problem is the first step in finding solutions that are both acceptable and meaningful. AGA Members are invited to attend the breakfast (at the Kauffman Foundation, 4801 Rock Hill, at 8 a.m. in the Brookside Room) or the forum featuring Comptroller General David Walker at Penn Valley Community College (3201 Southwest Trafficway, Room CC-503, at 11:30 a.m. with a box lunch provided), can contact Harry Zeeve. Find out more!

Save the Dates!
AGA's Second Annual National Performance Management Conference is on the calendar for October 30-31, at the Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, Schaumburg, IL, just outside of Chicago. Watch the AGA website and future issues of TOPICS for more information!
