AGA TOPICS Newsletter

From the National President
Jeffrey S. Hart, CGFM, CFE

Need some financial help to get to New Orleans to work with Habitat for Humanity on behalf of AGA? For the first 10 members who sign-up, AGA will match up to 50 percent of your airfare, not to exceed $200/person, with the member or their chapter contributing the other 50 percent (Note: national and regional AGA officers are encouraged to come but are not eligible for matching funds). For those who have not been following this project, Capital Region RVP Karl Boettcher, CGFM, and I are organizing a trip to offer support to victims of Hurricane Katrina as they continue to put their lives back together. I first announced the project in my April 9 TOPICS column. AGA members, their families and friends are encouraged to join me, Karl, Past National President Charles Harrison, CGFM, members of the New Orleans Chapter and hopefully many others for a day, a weekend or the whole week beginning Monday morning June 4 and ending Saturday evening June 9.

For more details, see the April 23 article in TOPICS. I have also included answers to frequently asked questions, and photos I took during my recent visit to New Orleans showing just a fraction of the remaining devastation. Please write me at hart.jeff@epa.gov to sign up.

We also just completed the second of four “Sectional Leadership Meetings” (SLMs), this time in Indianapolis, and by the time you read this, we will have completed our third SLM in Dallas. Our fourth and final SLM for the year will be May 18–19 in Portland. It is our goal to use these new annual meetings to help chapter and other AGA leaders to take our Association and our profession into the future. Attendees tell us they are doing exactly that and the SLMs just keep getting better and better! These new annual meetings are just one of the new, exciting and fun ways AGA is creating exceptional value for you and our profession.

If I don’t see you at one of the remaining SLMs, one of my remaining chapter visits, or in New Orleans, I hope I see you at the Nashville PDC!

 Let's Stay Excited!

Jeff Hart
