And resourceful she is—Santiago is the departmental chief accountant IV of the Los Angeles city treasurer’s office. She oversees accounting for the city’s roughly $60 billion annual cash flow, $7 billion investment portfolio and $1.4 billion annual debt service. She also oversees general accounting and serves as the audit coordinator for the department, ensuring that internal controls are in place.
