From the National President
Bobby A. Derrick, CGFM
Do you know where America’s day begins? If you didn’t know, it’s Guam. Yes, Guam. I had the opportunity to visit our Pacific Region this year. I visited our AGA Guam, Northern Mariana Islands Chapter (Saipan) and Hawaii Chapters. I thought I was going to be teaching leadership at various training events scheduled while visiting the Chapters. Instead, they taught me about leadership.

A lot of us from the west seem to forget that in addition to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, Guam and Saipan are as incredibly beautiful and romantic. Not only are the islands breath taking in their beauty, the people are also beautiful. They are beautiful on the “inside.” Their hospitality and inner warmth touched my heart. While 70 percent of AGA members have already renewed, we need your help to encourage the other 30 percent to renew before the May 31 deadline. Chapter leaders were sent an e-mail outlining the spring retention contest last week and many have begun process of communicating with fellow members making the launch of the contest a huge success.

Why participate in the chapter retention contest? Retention is key to a strong chapter. Plus, chapters that entice one-half or more of their members who haven’t renewed as of April 30 to renew by May 31 will be put into a fishbowl drawing for a chance at three complimentary conference registrations!
