From the National President
Sam M. McCall, MPA, CGFM, CPA, CIA, CGAP
As I begin this year as AGA’s 56th
National President, I continue to be amazed and extremely proud of
AGA’s leadership role in government financial management. AGA
chapter officers, public and private sector members, and National
Office staff are working together to advance accountability at all
levels and branches of the government.
In July,
more than 1600 professionals attended AGA’s 54th Annual
Professional Development Conference & Exposition, held in Orlando.
Through the AGA Scholarship Program, which provides two members of each
chapter with paid hotel accommodations, a majority of AGA chapters were
represented. Click here to read more from National President
McCall. Click here to read President McCall's comments at the
recent PDC. The photo above shows President McCall presenting the
golden gavel to outgoing National President Bobby A. Derrick, CGFM, on
the last day of the Orlando PDC.

Intensive Review Course and CGFM Examinations A Success at
PDC
AGA Recognized 19 New CGFMs!
Applying for the CGFM Program is the first step toward earning
the CGFM certification. The next step is to take the three CGFM
Examinations. Having the exams administered in a year-round
computerized format makes it a convenient way to accommodate
candidates’ schedules. It is also an opportunity for
procrastination.
This year, AGA decided to give its CGFM candidates an extra
motivation to complete the process by presenting them with a wonderful
opportunity to take the CGFM Examinations and earn their CGFM right at
the Professional Development Conference & Exposition (PDC) in
Orlando. AGA offered a special two-day Intensive Review Course on
Thursday and Friday, July 7 and 8, and an opportunity to take CGFM
Examinations during the following two days, July 9 and 10. What made
this opportunity even more appealing is the fact that the participants
only had to pay for the course—the CGFM Examinations were
included at no cost. Click
