Norma Lau,
whom many of our members will recall as the Auditor of the city of
Oakland California, a long-term AGA member, has taken ill and
would most appreciate cards and letters. Some members may recall
that AGA published an interview of her in 1995 in TOPICS.
Her address is: 76 Linda Avenue, Apt. 20, Oakland, CA 94611.
On August 23, 2004, Sky Lesher,
CGFM, the Director of the Office of Financial Management, passed
away after a long battle with cancer. Sky was an outstanding
manager within the Department of the Interior and the federal
government as a whole.
Sky was diagnosed with cancer in
October 2002, but continued to work from home via conference calls.
Sky continued lending his knowledge and expertise in this manner
until July 2004; his commitment and professionalism will surely be
missed but not forgotten by his DOI family. His efforts and
contributions to the improvement of financial systems, governmental
standardization of policies and practices, and many other efforts
will be a tribute to his life for years to come.
Sky will be cremated and a private
family ceremony held in New York. Thereafter, a memorial service
will be scheduled in September at the National Presbyterian Church,
Washington, DC, for his many friends, associates, and co-workers. As
soon as arrangements have been finalized, further details will be
provided.
If anyone wishes to send condolence
cards, the address is:
The Lesher
Family
4208 49th Place, NW
Washington, D.C. 20016
The family
has asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Sky’s
favorite charity. The details of the selected charity will soon be
provided. However, if you wish to contribute to a family
remembrances book for his young children, please forward your items
to the address noted above. Your contributions will be greatly
appreciated.
