National President-Elect, Treasurer-Elect, and Director (At-Large) Positions

Nomination submissions for 2021—2022 positions will be accepted starting in fall 2020.

AGA, the premier organization dedicated to promoting government accountability and serving accountability professionals, is seeking leaders to serve as the 2021-2022 National President-Elect, National Treasurer-Elect, and Director (At-Large) of the National Governing Board (NGB). This is your opportunity to shape AGA programs, advance your profession and represent members' interests. 

Term

Those selected will take office on July 1, 2021, and will serve a two-year term of office. The National President and National Treasurer serve the first year as "elect" and the second year as "current."

Qualifications needed 

Per AGA's National Bylaws, to serve as the National President-Elect, Treasurer-Elect or Director (At-Large), a nominee should be an AGA member in good standing and have a professional background commensurate with the position.

  • To serve as President-Elect, a nominee must have served as a voting member of the National Executive Committee (NEC), NGB, or as chair of a national board, committee, council or task force or as a chapter president for at least one complete year at the date of nomination.
  • To serve as Treasurer-Elect, a nominee must have served as a member of the Finance and Budget Committee, or as a voting member of the NEC or NGB, or as an officer or director of a chapter for at least one complete year at the date of nomination.
  • To serve as Director (At-Large), a nominee must have served as an officer or director of a chapter or as chair of a national board, committee, council or task force for at least one complete year at the date of nomination or have served as an executive in federal, state, or local government, academia or the private sector.
  • No person who has served as Director (At-Large) may serve another term in that same position until a period of at least two years has passed following the end of their most recent term.
  • The National President or National Treasurer may not succeed himself/herself by election, unless filling the unexpired term of another elected officer.

Nomination Process

  • President-Elect, Treasurer-Elect and Director (At-Large) candidates must self-nominate online by the December 13, 2020 nomination deadline. “Endorsements” for NGB candidates are unnecessary and will not be recognized. View PDF of nomination form.
  • AGA's National Bylaws do not permit campaigning for any elective office.
  • All submissions will be forwarded to the Leadership Development Committee (LDC),* who will contact the nominees. In February, the LDC will recommend one candidate per position for NGB approval at their February meeting.
  • Nominees will be notified of the slate of candidates no later than February 28.
  • The NGB-approved slate of candidates will take office on July 1, 2021.

*The Leadership Development Committee is made up of  the immediate Past National President, the immediate Past National Treasurer, one federal government representative, one state government representative, one local government representative, one private sector representative, one academic representative, one young professional, and the CEO (non-voting).
