Excellence in Government Leadership

Purpose and Overview

  • Each year, the AGA Tallahassee Chapter will present one award to a government professional who exemplifies and promotes excellence in government, outstanding leadership and high ethical standards.
  • The award recognizes the cumulative achievements of a federal, state or local government professional who throughout his/her public career has served as a role model for others and has consistently exhibited high personal and professional standards.
  • The nominee must have been employed by the government at the time the work being recognized was performed.
  • Nominees do not have to be members of the AGA.
  • Individuals, governmental units and Tallahassee Chapter Committees may make nominations.
  • AGA Tallahassee Chapter will formally recognize the recipient at a special awards ceremony during the Chapter’s last luncheon in June.

II. Criteria & Evaluation

The Chapter’s Awards Committee will use the following criteria to evaluate nominees. Therefore, nominations should describe in specific terms the work or contribution that justifies the nomination, including:

  1. 1. Individual’s demonstration of leadership resulting in improved government services, operations and/or financial management through legislation, regulations, practices, policies and systems.

  2. Results of improved services (e.g., savings, increased productivity, expanded services, system improvements, etc.), if known.

  • Nominations must be received no later than May 17, 2019.
  • The award recipient will be asked to provide biographical information, including education and employment highlights, to be used during the presentation.
  • Please ensure that your nomination includes all of the information requested. Each nomination should be submitted separately, please do not bundle multiple nominations into one package.
