Each year, the AGA recognizes financial management professional and chapters whose visionary leadership, outstanding accomplishments, and exceptional service have significantly advanced our profession, strengthened our Association, and improved our community.
This year, on behalf of the AGA National Awards Committee, members of the Washington DC Chapter have been selected as recipients of Professional Development and Training (PDT) awards of distinction. The recipients of the awards for program year 2017-2018 are:

Chapter Recognition Program Award – Salim Mawani (2017-18 DC Chapter President)
The Chapter Recognition Program is designed to support, encourage and promote AGA’s mission, and to provide flexible guidelines for a well-rounded chapter. This award recognizes chapters that have achieved the Platinum level credit goal of 19,501–22,000 credits. |

Chapter CGFM Award - Wendy Allen (2017-18 DC Chapter CGFM Committee)
This award recognizes AGA chapters that did an outstanding job promoting the CGFM program to members, government financial management professionals and their communities. The CGFM committee uses newsletters, emails and other resources to spread the word about the many benefits and training opportunities available, and continues to explore innovative methods to expand awareness of CGFM.

Chapter Education Award - Karin Dasuki (2017-18 DC Chapter Education Committee)
This award recognizes chapters that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment providing one or more educational events, which requires significant commitment of time and/or resources.

Frank Greathouse Distinguished Leadership Award - Gary Engel (left)(Chapter Award) & Mark Hayes (right)(National Award)
This award is conferred upon individuals in government service who have provided sustained, outstanding leadership in financial management, resulting in notable contributions to the profession. |

Relmond P. Van Daniker Government Transparency Award - United States Small Business Administration (Chapter & National Awards)
This award recognizes outstanding reporting by a government, providing the public and government officials accessibility to information, and achieving better understanding of the government’s financial position or accomplishments. |

Robert W. King Memorial Award - John Homan (Chapter & National Awards)
Established in honor of AGA’s founding president, this award is conferred in the form of a gold medallion to a member for distinguished service of such significance that AGA’s national prestige and stature was greatly enhanced. |

Educator Award - Teresa Tancre (Chapter & National Awards)
This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the education and training of government financial managers. |

Einhorn-Gary Award - Mark Reger (Chapter & National Awards)
This award formally recognizes major contributions to promoting government accountability that have significantly enhanced AGA’s prestige and stature. |
Achievement of the Year Award - Carlos Sedeno (Chapter Award)
This award recognizes an individual for outstanding achievement in developing, implementing or improving financial management during the past year. |

Cornelius E. Tierney/ EY Research Award - Douglas Criscitello (Chapter & National Awards)
This award recognizes individuals who throughout their careers have made continuous contributions to governmental financial management by their direct participation in research activities and/or through their encouragement and support of others engaged in government financial management research.

Emerging Leader Award of Excellence - Mobola Kadiri (Chapter Award)
This award recognizes younger government financial managers for notable contributions toward excellence in financial management; it is hoped that this recognition will encourage others to achieve early in their professional lives.

James W. Saylor Award / Volunteer of the Year Award - Myriam Galvan-Zambrana (Chapter & National Awards)
DC Chapter and AGA’s National President present this honor annually to one member from each chapter, recognizing significant service to a chapter.
