In a few words, tell us about your chapter.
The Aroostook County Chapter was founded eleven years ago by a group of visionary, devoted AGA members, many of who are still active today. The chapter’s home is primarily located at the DFAS-Limestone site which is nestled in the beautiful Northern Maine Woods and gateway to Quebec and New Brunswick, Canada.

What's a quirky fact about Aroostook County that others probably don't know?
As the largest county east of the Mississippi, Aroostook County has bragging rights on amazing home-grown leaders. In October 2019, Jessica Meir of Aroostook County joined Christina Koch in the first all-female spacewalk in history.  Senator Susan Collins of Maine has never missed one of more than 7,000 votes on the Senate floor.

What tourist attraction would you recommend to an out-of-towner?
Northern Maine is known for its scenic views, and offers a multitude of outdoor activities. There are more than 1,200 miles of trails that connect across Aroostook County. Outdoor enthusiasts ride ATVs and bicycles in the warmer months; and enjoy activities including snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter months. Aroostook State Park offers camping in the park, swimming and boating on Echo Lake, and hiking trails up and down Quaggy Jo Mountain. There are even driving tours offered to take “Leaf Peepers” on a fall foliage tour of Aroostook County, where travelers can view and photograph the beautiful autumn scenery.

Where or what should we eat in Arosotook County?
A popular “meal” for an out-of-towner visiting Aroostook County is a mixture of French fries, cheese and brown gravy, known as Poutine (pronounced as /po͞oˈtēn/). Poutine can be made a variety of ways, using different types of fries, cheeses and gravies. Area restaurants have variations of this delectable dish, making Poutine a popular experience for both locals and visitors.
