The weather seems to have finally turned for the warmer as we enter into the month of May. As we're approaching the end of the program year, we still have lots of events left, including:

- Our last monthly luncheon in the program year is May 21st, with guest speaker Steve Kunze, DCFO (Retired), Department of Commerce

- Our DC AGA Spring Happy Hour at the City Club on May 8th hosted by Member Services

- The VISA Government Forum on May 6th

- The SW Virginia AGA Chapter has invited us to attend their virtual Spring PDT

- Want more education opportunities? Last two National AGA webinars where free CPE sponsored by the DC Chapter is available

Before we know it, we'll be heading into June. Don't miss out on our Annual Award Gala on June 7th to help honor our outstanding members who have made significant contributions to our community.

Webinar on Leadership

The AGA DC Chapter will host a webinar on Leadership facilitated by AGA National on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM. Pre-registration will be sent approximately 2-3 weeks before the event, and is necessary to gain a personal log in. Two emails will follow: (1) with instructions on how to finalize and confirm your registration; and (2) with the webinar access link prior to the scheduled event date from: customercare@gotowebinar.com.

Over the Edge Volunteer Opportunity

Date Change update: The AGA DC Chapter Community Service Committee is looking for volunteers to support the New Hope Housing annual fundraising event “Over the Edge” now being held on June 20, 2025, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Volunteer activities include Rope Volunteer, Block Party Volunteer, or Repeller Check-In Table, with the assignment given by organization. We are requesting all volunteers to complete the Eventbrite Form by June 2nd to ensure the organization has the final count of volunteers in advance of the event.

Leadership Update

The AGA DC Nominating Committee is proud to introduce our incoming leaders for the upcoming program year. Veronica Baird will serve as the AGA DC Chapter President-Elect and Brittany Hopwood will serve as the AGA DC Chapter Treasurer-Elect. Both positions will begin on July 1, 2025 and will start as President and Treasurer, respectively on July 1, 2026. Additionally, Wendy Morris will continue to serve as the AGA DC Chapter Secretary beginning July 1, 2025 and serving a 2-year term. CGFM month

March is Certified Government Financial Manager month.

To recognize and commend the significant impact of CGFMs, Mayor Bowser declared March "CGFM Month" with this proclamation. As we start the month of March, we invite you to celebrate with us!
