Access AGA’s COVID-19 Resource Exchange

The Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Baton Rouge Chapter is a professional organization that serves the educational needs of professionals in the government financial management community by providing appropriate, relevant, and timely education, fostering professional development and certification and supporting emerging standards and research to advance government accountability.

Since 1950, the Association of Government Accountants has been--and remains today--the educational organization dedicated to the enhancement of public financial management. AGA serves the professional interests of financial managers, from local, state and federal governments, as well as public accounting firms, responsible for effectively using billions of dollars and other monetary resources every day.

Our AGA National President, Ernie Almonte, announced his theme for this year is “Taking a Proactive Approach to the Future of our Profession”. Keeping aligned with the National AGA theme, our Chapter theme for 2019-2020 is IGNITE! Ignite our profession and our Chapter by getting comfortable being uncomfortable, futureproofing ourselves by learning more about and understanding the impact of technology on our business processes, blurring the lines between generations by understanding and appreciating the different values and strengths of each, sharing resources, mentoring young professionals, cultivating our own abilities and leadership skills, and building up others. This year our focus will be on Chapter membership and participation, mentoring young professionals, networking, and providing quality education opportunities to accounting, finance, technology, and business professionals in an effort to instill integrity and trust in government.

Inspire others to be greater than ourselves through

Growth in our skill set, nurturing the skills of others, and increasing our membership and member participation;

Networking in our chapter, among other chapters, across our profession, and developing corporate partnerships;

Integrity in leading by example and mentoring students and young professionals;

Technology by improving our analytical skills, accepting changes, and future-proofing our profession; and

Excellence in all things.
