Leadership Meeting Minutes

February 9, 2018

 

Attendees: Jacquelyn Hallcarrillo, Jason Stitt, Sharon Buggele, James Gant, Jana Sjoquist, Michael Hoffman

 

Bar Louie Social Event

Thursday, January 25

4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Everyone enjoyed the time socializing and the appetizers.

 

Community Service Event

February

Sharon Buggele will hear back from Ronald McDonald House on Feb. 12 with what dates are available and will email everyone to get volunteers to go. The community service event would be craft or entertainment at Ronald McDonald House, University Circle. No funds will potentially come from AGA. However, Jacquelyn Hallcarrillo previously stated AGA would assist will minimal costs of crafts around $20. There was previous discussion on the possibility of doing an interactive event with the kids.

 

Interview Clinic

March

James Gant mentioned that there were only about 4 VTC in the building at DFAS, so the date will need to be settled soon to make sure DFAS is able to get on the schedule. Jana Sjoquist will check with Karen and Vickie about assisting with the clinic. There was previous discussion on doing a speaker with a panel of supervisors from DFAS and NASA on what they are looking for in an interviewee. Previous discussion came up with potential interviewees of: Jason, Sharon, Jana, and John and potential interviewers of: Jackie, Karen, Vickie, and James.

 

Leadership Dinner

Monday, April 23

Leaders save the date. Dinner will be scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at a restaurant near where the speaker, AGA Director, James Arnett is staying. Jackie Hallcarrillo will follow up with James to finalize reservations for the restaurant.

 

Local AGA Spring Conference

Tuesday, April 24

Jana Sjoquist and Haley Proszek have reached out to some NASA employees for speakers. Also, Jacquelyn Hallcarrillo has reached out to some DFAS employees for speakers. Discussion open to recommendations for speakers. Haley Proszek is taking the lead on the event. Haley has setup a weekly recurring meeting with volunteers assisting her.

 

Leadership Social on Evening of AGA Spring Conference

Tuesday, April 24

Leaders save the date. Social will tentatively be scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Details will be forthcoming upon finalizing of the AGA Spring Conference schedule.

 

Sectional Leaders Meeting

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, May 3-5, Baltimore

AGA to send 2 people. Jackie Hallcarrillo and Jana Sjoquist are planning on going.

 

Reception AGA Booth for Public Service Recognition Week

Thursday, May 3

Tentatively having punch and cookies. Sharon Buggele will respond to contact for Public Service Recognition Week that AGA definitely wants to do the booth. Sharon and possibly John Kanya will man the booth. Other volunteers are welcome to man the booth. The time the booth will be open will be verified by Sharon, when Sharon schedules it.

 

Tour of Coast Guard Cutter

Possibly Week of the May 13 or May 20

Discussion that Tuesday, May 22, United States National Maritime Day, would be a great day for the event. Tentatively to be in the late afternoon. There would be a tour of the Coast Guard Cutter with a social hour across the street afterwards at the Nuevo Modern Mexican and Tequila Restaurant (i.e., address: 1000 E. 9th St., Cleveland, OH 44144; phone: (216) 737-1000). Sharon Buggele will follow up with Bradley, George, and Mr. Lindsey from the Coast Guard.

 

National AGA 2018 Professional Development Training

July 22-25

AGA to send 2 people. Traditionally, 1 person from NASA and 1 person from DFAS are sent. Discussion open to those interested. Jana Sjoquist will work on nominations for the NASA person and Jackie Hallcarrillo will work on nominations for the DFAS person.

 

James Gant stated the AGA treasury currently has about $17,400 in the account. Last year AGA made $4,300 on the AGA/ASMC Spring PDT. Discussion on AGA possibly doing a joint scholarship this year with ASMC. James will reach out to ASMC about a joint scholarship. AGA usually matches ASMC in doing joint scholarships. $1,000 was allocated in the past. AGA will commit up to $2,000 this year in matching ASMC for scholarships.
