AGA Meeting – Friday, July 19, 2024

Raji:
§ Highlighted AGA's PDT (Professional Development Training) initiatives, including modernizing payment scrubbing and reaching out to other agencies.
§ Emphasized focusing on wellness and incorporating AI into our agency.
Mrs. Ortiz:
§ Offered additional support, including approval and financial assistance for PDT attendance.
§ Emphasized increasing Cleveland’s presence at PDT.
§ Inquired about raising AGA awareness through career fairs, new employee orientations, and flyers.
Ron:
- Discussed federal debt, fraud, and difficulties of accessing virtual PDT.
Jackie:
· Suggested ways to increase awareness of AGA and mentioned the activity of Central Ohio, including a possible merger.
· Emphasized the need to review the by-laws.
· Will send the by-laws document to Balwinder.
George:
- Offered to post the flyer on the Coast Guard floor.
Tatiana and Laura:
Laura:
- Offering marketing support and platforms.
Tatiana:
o Recommended increasing social media presence.
o Discussed ways to post material and questioned the need for flyer approval.
o Need more information about AGA; I will meet with them on weekends.
Nathaniel:
· Needs to update the website.
· Will reach out for assistance.
Jean Philippy:
· Offered a suggestion for a roadmap.
· Highlighted the importance and obstacles for PDT, stressing the need for recognition and approval from management.
Balwinder Beasley
· Discussed networking and the challenges of applying for AGA positions.
· Mentioned using Outlook to filter information down to agencies.
· Explained how priorities go to the front office and data is scrubbed.
· Stressed the need for senior management support to increase AGA representation.
· Will receive a word copy of the by-laws from Jackie and update them.
· Requested a copy of the new by-laws and proposed forming a committee for this task.
· Mentioned that the I-90 has been filed.
· Asked if Jackie or Ron could help with the annual evaluation.
Agenda for the Meeting:
Jeannie, Rob, and I:
· Will provide information in the cafeteria.
· Announced volunteering at the Cleveland Food Bank.
· Discussed the job fair on August 23rd (see flyer) from 11-4. AGA booth has been reserved. I am meeting AGA National on August 5th at 12:00PM. Anyone wants to join during lunch time.
· Mentioned the culture fair on August 10th (I will not be able to attend due to reporting duties).
Goals:
- Set a goal of gaining 10 new members to be considered a success.
Next Monthly Meeting is on August 16th.
