Chapter Community Service 2022-2023
The Des Moines Chapter will be collecting donations for the following charities at Chapter events in the months noted below.
September - October: Iowa Remembers, Inc. - Iowa Remembers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity run solely by volunteers. Founded in 2010, Iowa Remembers is located in Grimes, Iowa.
Mission: To remember and honor the Iowa military casualties of war from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Their sacrifice, and that of all the others who have died, will never be forgotten.

November - December: National Alliance on Suicide Awareness - More information coming soon.
January - February: University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital Fund - Donations have enabled the hospital to:
- Offer programs and services that enhance the emotional well-being of the paitients and their families, making the hospital feel as comfortable and home-like as possible
- Purchase advanced medical technology that can more easily diagnose or treat childhood conditions
- Expand and renovate the facilities to reflect the hospital's commitment to family-centered care.
March - April: Autism Society of Iowa - The Autism Society of Iowa is an integral part and affiliate of a nationwide association, the Autism Society, that has provided accurate information about autism since its inception in the early 70’s.
Mission: To provide advocacy, support and information to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, their families, professionals, and communities throughout the state of Iowa.
May: Animal Rescue League of Iowa - The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is Iowa's largest nonprofit animal shelter, caring for many thousands of pets each year. The ARL serves people and pets from across the state of Iowa through its programs, which include pet adoption, humane education, pet behavior training, spay/neuter, animal cruelty intervention and much more. The ARL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Mission: To promote animal welfare, strengthen the human-animal bond, and prevent the overpopulation of pets.
June: Special Olympics Iowa - Special Olympics of Iowa is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Mission: To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in avariety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with intelectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community
