WWII Memorial
Join us on Saturday, April 5 from 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM to honor U.S. Military Veterans who served in past wars as they arrive in Washington DC. We’ll welcome them at the WWII memorial and accompany them as they tour the Korean and Vietnam War Veterans Memorials. This is a family-friendly event, please feel free to bring your loved ones, including children, to help celebrate with thank you notes, flags, signs, banners, and cowbells. What Is an Honor Flight?
An Honor Flight is conducted by non-profit organizations dedicated to transporting U.S. Military Veterans to see the memorials of the respective war(s) they fought in Washington, DC, at no cost to them. The organizations mission is to celebrate America’s veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials and to experience the honor, gratitude, and community of support they deserve.
Agenda:
At 12:30 PM – We will gather at the front of the WWII Memorial before the Veterans arrive by bus. Once they unload, the Veterans have free time with us to explore all three Memorials. 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Exploring the Korean - Vietnam memorial.
Getting to the Memorials:
Metro: Take the blue, orange, or silver metro line to the Smithsonian stop, then follow signs for the WWII memorial. Parking: There is metered parking near the Memorials on Ohio Drive, in the Tidal Basin parking lot (near the paddleboats), and around the National Mall.
