Enterprise Risk Management Guidance and Research

The federal government codified the practice of ERM when the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released an updated version of Circular A-123 in July 2016. Other guidance and best practice materials have followed. AGA remains at the forefront of thought leadership in ERM. Our resources are free and designed to help you learn more about ERM and best practices for implementation in your office.

2020 ERM Workshop: Leverging ERM to Drive Organizatonal Value

participants gained valuable insights on integrating risk disciplines throughout an entire organization. The participants discussed ERM value, shared best practices from oversight entities for ERM implementation, and learned how to operationalize risk appetite statements.

2019 ERM Workshop: Beyond Compliance, Driving Organizational Value

April 2019

The event provided an opportunity for more than 160 individuals to hear the opinions of senior government leaders as well as accounts of their ERM successes and challenges. The participants were also able to discuss and share their agency practices with colleagues concerning ways ERM can, and does, drive organizational value and enhance performance.

COSO Announces Guidance Addressing Environmental, Social and Governance-related Risks

October 2018

This guidance, which aligns with Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission’s widely accepted Enterprise Risk Management — Integrating with Strategy and Performance, is intended to bring Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities into a clearer focus for mainstream business and other organizations around the world. It is designed to enhance organizations’ resiliency as they confront the increasing prevalence and severity of ESG-related risks, ranging from extreme weather events to product safety recalls.
