About the Award
- Up to two awards are presented each year
- Recognizes exceptional leadership in government financial management policy or practice
- Honors contributions from both the legislative and executive branches
- Nominees must have been serving as an elected federal official (e.g., U.S. Senator or Representative) or a presidential appointee at the time of the contribution
- AGA membership is not required
Nominees should exemplify:
- Visionary leadership that strengthens federal financial management practices, legislation, or systems
- A demonstrated commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical governance
- Efforts to prevent or reduce fraud, waste, and abuse across government operations
- The ability to drive meaningful policy or operational improvements through collaboration and innovation
- Service as a role model for integrity, public trust, and excellence in federal leadership
