The Finance & Budget Committee (FBC) provides essential oversight and guidance to ensure AGA’s financial health aligns with its mission and strategic goals. By recommending budgets, evaluating financial performance, and strengthening internal controls, the committee helps safeguard AGA’s resources and promote long-term organizational sustainability.
What the Finance & Budget Committee Does
As AGA’s primary body for financial oversight, the FBC advises the National Governing Board (NGB) on policies and decisions that support fiscal responsibility, risk management, and alignment with strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities Include:

- Assessing long-term financial goals and two-year budget plans aligned with strategic initiatives
- Monitoring AGA’s financial and program performance against approved budgets and organizational benchmarks
- Evaluating financial implications of proposed new or discontinued programs and making recommendations to the NGB
- Reviewing significant proposed budget revisions that exceed approved thresholds
Reporting and Transparency
- Maintaining a clear system for financial reporting, including frequency, content, and distribution
- Presenting financial performance analysis to the NGB to aid in strategic decision-making
Internal Controls and Risk Management

Who Serves on the FBC
The FBC is composed of at least nine members, combining elected leadership and at-large representatives:
- Chair – National Treasurer
- Vice Chair – National Treasurer-Elect
- Immediate Past Treasurer
- At least six at-large members from across AGA’s professional membership
At-large members serve three-year terms and may be reappointed, but no member may serve more than six consecutive appointed years.
