Deputy Chief Risk Officer and Director of Enterprise Strategy, Performance and Risk in the Office of Strategy, Planning, and Performance Improvement at the Department of the Treasury

Karen is responsible for agency strategic planning, performance, critical program and project oversight, and enterprise risk management. She was one of the lead drafters of Playbook: Enterprise Risk Management for the U.S. Federal Government, chaired the working group to update the Playbook, and chairs the ERM Community of Practice. 

Karen holds a Master of Public Administration from the George Washington University and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Dickinson College. She has earned the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Certified Risk Management Professional credential and Federal micro-credential. She has also earned the COSO ERM certification. She has also authored a chapter on the development of Treasury’s ERM program in Public Sector Enterprise Risk Management: Advancing Beyond the Basics. She was named ERM Leader of the Year by the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management in October 2019.
