AGA Datathon
Students and Young Professionals, Elevate Your Data Science Skills at the 2023 AGA Datathon!
The winning team members each receive a $1,000 cash prize!
Join AGA in cooperation with the federal CFO Council in an exhilarating event that will take your data science skills to new heights. Similar to hackathons, a datathon is an event where participants gather to solve practical problems through the application of data science tools and techniques, by working together in teams to generate potential solutions.
Participation in this event is open to college/university students and young professionals in teams of at least two individuals to a maximum of five individuals (no cost). There will be a range of exciting incentives, including cash prizes, networking opportunities, and delicious food!
The Datathon kicks off via Zoom October 16 where teams will be given their instructions. Teams then work over the next eight days. All teams are invited to come to Washington, D.C. October 30 for presentations and the announcement of winners, but the finalists will be required to attend. All participants are invited to a reception the night before.
This year's theme revolves around shedding light on the profound impact of federal government funds and programs on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) within our local communities. As the nation's largest employer, the federal government strives to be a model for DEIA, to cultivate a workforce that draws from the full diversity of the nation.
By delving into publicly available data sources, teams will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that address key areas of focus for federal agency financial managers. These solutions will help evaluate the barriers and advancements related to DEIA, thus paving the way for a more inclusive future.
Don't miss this opportunity to unleash your data science prowess and make a real impact! Assemble your team and join us at the 2023 AGA Datathon and embark on a journey of discovery and innovation. Register by Noon EST, October 11.
