Cybersecurity Implications of Artificial Intelligence in Government
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming embedded in government systems and security operations, altering how data is accessed, processed, and protected. While AI can enhance cybersecurity capabilities, it also introduces new risks that challenge existing security governance and control structures. This session examines how AI affects cybersecurity risk in government environments, including impacts to identity and access management, data protection, monitoring, and third-party risk, and evaluates whether existing governance and controls are sufficient to address these changes.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify cybersecurity governance considerations relevant to the use of AI in government systems, including accountability, oversight, and security ownership.
- Understand how AI alters an organization’s cybersecurity risk profile.
- Assess whether existing cybersecurity controls and risk management practices are sufficient to support AI-enabled processes and recognize common control gaps and failure points.
