AGA members represent a diverse array of professional backgrounds which hold together the financial fabric of American government and non-profit organizations. AGA is the only organization that includes federal, state, and local representatives from professions that include Accountants, Auditors, Financial Managers, and Budget Analysts. This unique collection of professions gives the membership the ability to meet regularly with others within and outside their specialty, while also meeting with those at different levels of government. Government specialists do not operate within a vacuum. Instead, government cannot operate without accountants and auditors working together, nor without financial managers having an in-depth understanding of all areas of government financial management. Further, the private sector accountants and auditors that work closely with their government counterparts are able, within AGA, to meet on both a formal and informal basis to better ensure financial accountability for the taxpayers.
