The El Paso Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), is a member of the National AGA.  The El Paso Chapter works to support the goal of advancing government accountability throughout all levels of government.  Our membership base includes government accountability professionals working in the areas of accounting, auditing, finance, budget, internal controls, risk management, information resource management and public administration.  Membership is available to public sector employees (federal, state, or local), private sector employees who have public sector clients or work in public sector environments, members of partner organizations (Government Finance Officers Association, Institute of Internal Auditors, etc), and college students planning to work in the public sector after graduation.

Our chapter has four main goals:

1.  Provide high quality continuing professional education programs and opportunities to the El Paso and southern New Mexico governmental accountability community.

2.  Assist federal, state and local governments and agencies in advancing government accountability through improved performance planning and reporting to citizens and stakeholders.

3.  Support and promote AGA's Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) Program.  The CGFM is recognized as the mark of excellence in government financial management.  The CGFM program is distinguished by academic achievement and experience in government financial management.  Increasing the number of CGFM certified professionals will improve accountability in local public sector organizations.

4.  Partner with other organizations (Government Finance Officers AssociationInstitute of Internal Auditors, etc.) to jointly promote increased accountability and excellence in government financial management.
