The AGA Ozarks Chapter recently hosted a highly successful Fall Seminar, bringing together finance professionals for a deep dive into grant management. The event, held on November 15, 2023, at the Missouri Job Center (Workforce Development) in Springfield, provided attendees with valuable insights and raised funds for a charitable cause.
The AGA Ozarks Chapter hosted a successful Fall Seminar centered around the crucial theme of grants. The event took place on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Missouri Job Center (Workforce Development) located at 2900 E Sunshine in Springfield.
The conference, which ran from 8:00 am to noon, commenced with a registration and light breakfast at 7:30 am. Attendees were treated to a four-hour program filled with Continuing Professional Education (CPE) opportunities, covering critical aspects of grant management.
The agenda featured crucial topics in grant management, with expert-led sessions covering various aspects:
- Grant Writing Best Practices and Local Projects Update:
- Conducted by Trish Hubbell, Director of Development at Boys and Girls Club, and Debbie Parks, Grant Administrator at Ozarks Transportation Organization.
- Grant Procurement Best Practices:
- Led by a seasoned panel, including Jimmy Kinser, Director-Supply Chain Management; Erica Sutton, Manager-Purchasing; and Ryan Lee, Manager-Inventory Control, all from City Utilities.
- Internal Controls and Grant Compliance:
- Facilitated by Ally Jackson, Director of Community Health Centers at FORVIS.
The event not only provided a platform for professionals to enhance their expertise but also showcased the AGA Ozarks Chapter's commitment to community service. During the seminar, a remarkable $221 was raised for Rare Breed, a local organization dedicated to supporting youth in need.
This generous contribution resulted in the provision of 17 bus passes for youth, offering essential transportation resources to those in vulnerable situations. The AGA Ozarks Chapter extends its heartfelt thanks to all participants and sponsors whose generosity made this impactful donation possible.
