• Gained 22 new members (14% growth) (Thank you Torae, Claudia, and all who sponsored new members).
• Offered 9 chapter meetings, including three (3) joint meetings with our local Tidewater Chapter of IIA and one (1) joint meeting with the ODU student chapter, which had an average attendance of 30 people....and our first-ever HYBRID meeting! We enjoyed speakers from the state, local and federal government and heard about a range of topics including technical ones (excel pivot tables) and softer skills like fear of failure (Thank you Cecelia, Jessika, Suzanne, and Laura (who did all of our flyers))
• We supported ODU School of Accountancy and Beta Alpha Psi students with outreach on government accountability careers (Thank you Dr. Stone and all who spoke at ODU)
• Held the 27th annual AGA Commonwealth PDT in partnership with three other AGA chapters (Richmond, Shenandoah, and Southwest) offering 16 CPEs. Our percentage of profits was $2,405 and we raised $2,854 for our PDT charity Semper K9 (Thank you Melinda and all who helped with the PDT)
• We supported CGFM candidates through study groups and the purchase of study guides. We’ve already had several new CGFMs and candidates who are well on their way to passing one or more exams. (Thank you Claudia)
• The State of VA proclaimed March CGFM Month and we polled our current CGFMs on ways to better support them.
• We conducted a financial audit and received recommendations to better account for and monitor our finances (Thank you, Brad and Gail).
• We produced a Citizen-Centric Report for our Chapter (Thank you, Jessika)
• We regularly communicated to our members through FB, routine emails, and an up-to-date website (Thank you LaQuisha and Suzanne)
• We plan to support the AGA National Community Service Fund raffle with a gift and a financial contribution and we supported the American Heart Association with our speakers' gifts and participated in Clean the Bay Day (Thank you Tony).
• We have a solid leadership pipeline with our 2023-2024 chapter president, president-elect, secretary, treasurer, and NCC representative already in place for our upcoming year (Thank you, Jessika, Traneisha, Anisa, Evelyn, Kelly, Brad, and Joy), and a mix of veteran leaders and new members including some young professionals expressing interest.
