President’s Message

August 2019

Over the summer, we were busy planning for the program year ahead.  This month we will be revealing the results of our planning.  Our website will be updated with the dates and descriptions of our upcoming meetings, and we will send an e-mail out soon, so you can save these dates.

Additionally, I just want to let you to know that we heard your feedback over the past year, and we are looking forward to implementing your suggestions.  Here are some of the changes that you will see this program year:

  • Virtual attendance available for live speakers
  • More meetings held at a central location
  • One afternoon meeting, with an optional social event afterwards
  • More intentional opportunities to get to know others during monthly meetings
  • An opportunity for student members to attend select events for free

Here are a couple other communications that will be coming your way soon.  First, in an effort to obtain additional feedback, you will see a link in our upcoming e-mail to complete a survey.  We hope that you will take a moment to tell us more about when and where you like to attend meetings, what community service events you prefer, etc.  I hope you will take a moment to provide us with your feedback.  As always, this is much appreciated.

The second communication is that AGA will reserve a table at the ASU Meet the Firms Night on September 16th, to share information with students on a career in Government Financial Management.  If your organization has positions that you are in need of filling, or internships, we are happy to share this information with Accounting/Finance students attending the event.

We can be reached at, if you have any questions or comments for us.  We would love to hear from you.

We hope that you had a great summer, and that all of you who were able to attend the AGA National PDT in New Orleans, enjoyed your experience!  Thank you for your continued support of the Phoenix Chapter, and we hope to see you soon!

Michelle Huckabay, CPA, CGFM
