2024 Easter Basket Celebration
Wheeler Mission Women and Children Shelter, (March 29, 2022 )

We served meals for over 40 women and children. It was great to see the smile on the women’s face to get a nice hot meal.
AGA Angel Tree, ( December 2019)

AGA members really helped wishes come true for some children attending Indianapolis Public School #105 and their families. The “Angel Tree,” located in the Indy Ops Headquarters Office, was covered in tags with wishes from children throughout the community. In just a few short weeks, every tag was removed from the tree by AGA “angels” and replaced with a gift-wrapped package bearing the special present.
The Angel Tree served five families with 16 children. The 187 gifts that were requested were all brought in on-time for delivery before the end of the school semester and holiday celebrations, and included everything from clothing, books, and toys to two bicycles, a full-size crib, and a tablet. A huge thank you to all AGA members who participated and made this such a special year for these children. We can’t wait to bring more joy in the coming years!
AGA Cards for Soldiers, (December 2019)

AGA's Community Service team was proud to assist Renate Kelly as she graciously took on her annual endeavor to support the troops. Renate created 100 handmade holiday cards to be sent to an active duty unit, in which individuals from both DFAS and FMCOM were represented. On Thursday, November 14, 2019, members and the entire DFAS community joined Renate at lunchtime to individually sign each of the cards, offering best wishes to the unit to keep them informed of their support from back home.
A huge thank you to Renate and to all members who came together to support the mission and bring joy to our nation's warfighters!
AGA School Supplies for Guyana, (August 2019)

AGA's Community Service Committee (Stephanie Dunfee and Catherine Henshaw) and Social Committee Chair Clarence Hill Jr. were excited to collect multiple school supplies for students in Guyana, South America. With an average per capita income of $4,000, most in Guyana can barely afford the basic necessities we take for granted. The drive collected composition wide-ruled notebooks, single-subject and 5-subject notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, rulers, glue, backpacks, folders and pencil boxes to make sure the students are provided with the supplies needed to make this a successful school year. The drive took place between August 14 - 27, 2019, and AGA members and DFAS employees came together to fill the collection box displayed in the lobby. All materials are in the process of being shipped out, where they will be distributed at area police stations in Guyana through community outreach officers.
Thank you to all members who came together to support the mission and provide assistance to others on a global basis! We will continue this drive in future years thanks to the success of the event.
AGA @ The Mutt Strut, (April 2019)

AGA members had a blast supporting IndyHumane at the Mutt Strut on Saturday, April 27, 2019. The annual event brings in over 3,000 people and 4,000 pets to walk the historic 2 ½ mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
AGA’s twelve-person team raised $425 to benefit IndyHumane to provide food, medical care, and vaccinations to adoptable animals. Members Catherine Henshaw, Stevie Lynch, Katie Buck, Leann Johnson, and Tynishia Weatherspoon were all proud sponsors of the event and enjoyed a morning filled with music, vendors, food, and activities (including, of course, a costume contest for the furry friends). While they didn’t all have pets of their own to bring, they had a blast spending the day with the many varieties of canines and recommend the event to AGA members in future years.
College Goal Sunday, (February 2019)
AGA members used their business acumen to assist Indiana students and families during College Goal Sunday on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Ivy Tech Community College. While this was the first year ever for AGA participation, this was the 30th year of College Goal Sunday, which has helped more than 90,000 Indiana students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) properly and on time.
Members Latunya Body and Mei-Mei Teng-Habash both attended the event, and Latunya recounted that the event was very well-organized, with volunteers matched where they best could help. Since she had previously assisted her own family members with completing the FAFSA, she was matched with other families to assist them with this process. During her time volunteering, she assisted two mothers and one student with completing the form. While most of her work was simply on assisting the individuals with utilizing the proper FSA IDs, usernames, and passwords; she felt that the process went smoothly, and she was happy to help. She noted that most of the families didn’t even need expert assistance with filling out their forms, but were just looking for a little extra guidance in order to ensure that they were completing the questions correctly.
AGA is certainly appreciative of the time that Latunya and Mei-Mei donated to help others. Interested members should mark their calendars and be on the lookout for next year’s event, when hopefully even more students and their families can be served.
