Dr. Kanama Bivins, Chief Financial Officer at NASA LARC, took our January meeting participants down her path to Comptrollership. Dr. Bivins has an untraditional route, joining the Air Force right out of high school and eventually earning her PhD,  all while working and raising a family. She took downgraded positions twice in her career - once to lower her commute/have more time with her family, and another time so her family could experience living overseas in Italy. She enjoys her work - particularly working for NASA!

Congratulations to the AGA Virginia Peninsula Chapter for being awarded the 2022 Certification of Excellence! 

AGA applauds your commitment to chapter excellence reflected in the Citizen-Centric Report (CCR) you produced on behalf of the AGA Virginia Peninsula Chapter. We are pleased to present you with the 2022 Citizen-Centric Reporting Recognition of Excellence. 

The Chapter would like to thank everyone who made this possible, including our valuable CEC members. We could not have done any of this without your efforts.

The 2023 CGFM Study Group for Exam #2 begins Wednesday, January 18th and runs through Wednesday, May 31st. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,700 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.

The AGA VA Peninsula Chapter had a Happy Hour Social at Mango Mangeaux on Wednesday, December 22, 2022. It was great getting to enjoy some time together right before the holidays. Be on the lookout for another Happy Hour social in 2023!

Thank you to the 120+ individuals who attended the 27th Annual AGA Commonwealth of Virginia Professional Development Training on December 8-9, 2022 in Williamsburg, Virginia! We appreciate all who worked on, sponsored, spoke and attended our event. Additionally, we received great feedback about the food and venue (from those in-person) and the audio visual (from those online), and then we heard from a fantastic lineup of speakers on everything from personal finance to fraud.

Also...thanks to everyone’s generosity, we successfully raised $3,354 for our Semper K9 Charity! We are excited for 2023!
