James Willis Saylor was born in 1923 and was a great friend of the Chapter from 1962 to 1986. He had a long career with DoD and served the Chapter in many capacities but was perhaps best remembered for being a constant and amiable presence at Chapter events. Jim always went out of his way to welcome new members and encourage everyone to volunteer their time on behalf of the Chapter. After Jim passed in 1986, the Chapter Executive Committee voted to name the annual Chapter Service Award after Mr. Saylor. His widow Frances presented the first James W. Saylor award in May 1988.
