Billy Joe Ladd
The AGA Maine Chapter would like to nominate Billy Joe Ladd for Volunteer of the Year. She has served on the Executive Committee for several years holding positions such as Treasurer and currently, Community Service Leader.
In the past year, Billy Joe stepped up to be not only our Community Service chair but to also fill in as our interim Treasurer. Twice, we had individuals take up the position only to step down shortly thereafter. Billy Joe came through each time to support the Chapter’s needs without question.
During this past COVID-19 year, Billy Joe took our chapter in a completely different and inclusive role with community service. She made numerous recommendations of how we could participate in helping our local communities while staying safe. She recommended assisting local food banks, making handmade items, and allowed us to pick charities of our choice for some months. She conducted online fundraisers for several new charities this year. She also donated handmade blankets and provided prizes as an incentive for members who raised money or purchased items for charities that month. She made numerous trips into the office to pick up donations of everything from dog treats for animal shelters to donations of arts and crafts items for the Portland Boys and Girls Club. She has challenged us to be creative while staying safe and near our respective homes. Our chapter logged a record number of volunteer hours as a result. She always has a positive attitude and giving spirit. Billy Joe, our previously unsung hero, is a wonderful asset to our chapter, and we are grateful for her contributions and continued dedication to our organization!
