2021 CARES Act Spending Survey

The United States Congress, through the passage of the CARES Act, provided more than $3 trillion dollars to state and local governments and the private sector to support people and organizations impacted negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic. Accountability and transparency in spending these valuable tax dollars will help citizens to build trust in their governments.

To assist in this endeavor, AGA offers the Citizen-Centric Report (CCR) program. Developed more than 10 years ago, AGA’s CCR program attracts the participation of numerous federal, state and local governments and other non-profit entities. By producing succinct, easy-to-read CCRs, the organizations better communicate:

  • Who they are.
  • What they have accomplished.
  • Revenue sources and types of expenses.
  • Priorities and challenges for the upcoming year.

The start of 2021 offered a perfect opportunity for more state and local governments to join the many government entities who participate in AGA's outstanding CCR program. To help the state and local governments get started, AGA distributed a five question survey on CARES Act spending. The results of this survey may be found on the AGA 2021 CARES Act Spending Survey results dashboard, and in the graphs shown below:
