CGFM for the Military and Civilian DoD Community
Get recognized while in service
Earning your CGFM demonstrates to your command that you're dedicated to self-improvement and have a higher level of competency in many areas of government financial management, including accounting, auditing, internal controls, financial reporting and budgeting.
Requirements to Earn Certification Process
Expand your career options beyond DoD
Translate your military training and experience to the civilian workforce. The only professional certification to provide comprehensive coverage of government financial management at all levels of government, CGFM can enhance your current knowledge and help you make a transition to a state, local or other federal government financial management position.
CGFM has also been approved for funding through the GI Bill. Please visit the Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill benefits for license and certification for information on how these benefits apply toward examinations.
Test on-base or online
CGFM exams can be taken at the education center on most military installations, including OCONUS. Find your closest testing center by clicking on the link next to the star icon on the right-hand side of the page. Alternatively, you can also register to take your exam from the comfort of your home or office via OnVUE, Pearson VUE’s online proctoring platform.
Attend training that will count
Whether you pursue the CGFM certification or not, the CGFM training courses offered by AGA are valuable to all government financial professionals, and have been aligned to the DoD Financial Management competencies. Offered virtually or on-site, live or as a self-paced series, there’s a training option for everyone.
If you’re currently a CGFM, the CPEs you take to maintain your CGFM can also be counted for continuing education and training (CET) towards your DoD Financial Management certification, as CGFM is a DoD-approved professional certification.
